BUILD ME THIS – September 22, 2009

Build Me This is the 2nd full length album from Joshua James demonstrating a solid progression in artist development. The album has received a good amount of critical acclaim to date and earned a 92 out of 100 “Phenomenal” rating from Paste Magazine. The 13 song Build Me This exhibits a more electrified side of Joshua and his band, in addition to some of the more sparse, moody, acoustic numbers reminiscent of his first album The Sun Is Always Brighter.

The vinyl version of the album comprises 2 LP’s and includes a bonus EP (Sing Songs EP) with 5 tracks on the 4th side. In addition to the bonus EP, the vinyl packaging includes a physical cd of all 18 songs for those that want both formats.

CRASH THIS TRAIN/ THE GARDEN EP – September 23, 2008
“It’s unabashedly political, but full of heart, and set to a gospel traditional melody. Basically, it’s fantastic.” – Whale In A Cubicle

The “Crash This Train/ The Garden EP” is a 3 song collection that is only available as a Digital Album. “Crash This Train” is probably Joshua’s most overtly political song in his current repertoire, and has been a fan favorite since the song’s debut. Also included in the EP is “The Garden” which examines the harsh realities of war, although in a more subtle, symbolic manner.

SING SONGS EP – Direct/Live Only

The tracks on the “Sing Songs EP” were spawned during the “Build Me This” recording sessions. The five songs on this EP were ultimately cut from “Build Me This” due to time and continuity constraints on the full length. “Sing Songs” is a great cross-section of music featuring intimate narratives such as “Ribbon Bows”, and darker folky-tinged numbers like “Farmer From The West” and “Crooked Arrow”. The EP is only available directly through Joshua’s website here and at live shows.

B-Sides It’s Dark Outside: Released January 2006
A collection of some of Joshua’s earliest recordings.  Recorded mostly live, with sparse acoustic arrangements.  Some of these songs would be re-recorded for Joshua’s first “full length” album, The Sun Is Always Brighter.  The initial pressing is sold out, and the album is now available digitally through iTunes.
