This site is a small, personal place run by Joshua James through MTN Records in American Fork, Utah. The notes below describe what is collected, why, and what choices you have. If something here is unclear, write to theamericanfork@gmail.com and a human will answer.
What is collected
Booking inquiries. If you submit the form on the tour page, the site collects your name, email address, the city or venue you have in mind, an optional date, the type of show, and any notes you choose to share. That information is sent by email to the booking inbox so a response can be written by hand.
Studio inquiries. If you submit the form on the studio page, the site collects your name, email address, an optional artist or band name, rough dates, the session type you pick, and any notes you share. That information is sent by email to the studio inbox (theamericanfork@gmail.com) so a response can be written by hand. Both forms also see your IP address briefly, only to rate-limit abuse — it is not stored with your inquiry.
Email you send directly. If you write to theamericanfork@gmail.com or any address on this site, the message and your email address are received and stored in an ordinary email inbox.
Server logs. The host, Vercel, keeps basic request logs (IP address, user-agent, the page requested, a timestamp) for a short period to keep the site running and to defend against abuse. These logs are not used to build profiles of visitors and are not sold or shared.
Page-view counts, no advertising trackers, no marketing pixels.The site uses Vercel Web Analytics to count visits in aggregate — which pages are read and roughly where visitors arrive from. It is cookieless: it sets nothing in your browser, does not follow you to other sites, and does not build a profile of you; a visit is counted from a temporary hash that expires within a day. Beyond that, the site does not run Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other behavioral tracker, and it does not set first-party cookies for advertising or measurement. A purely cosmetic preference or two (like the look of the drawing on the 404 page) is kept in your browser’s local storage; that data never leaves your device.
Third parties
A few outside services help the site work. Each has its own privacy practices, which are linked below.
- Vercel hosts the site, serves every page, and provides the cookieless page-view analytics described above. Vercel privacy policy.
- Resend delivers inquiry emails from the tour and studio forms to their inboxes. Resend privacy policy.
- Bandcamp supplies record artwork, audio, and embedded players. When a Bandcamp player loads on an album page, Bandcamp may set its own cookies and receive your IP address. See the Bandcamp privacy policy.
- Journal embeds.Journal entries are syndicated from Tumblr, so images in a post load from Tumblr’s servers, and a post may include an embedded player from YouTube, Vimeo, Spotify, SoundCloud, Apple Music, or Bandcamp. When that content loads, those companies receive your IP address and may set their own cookies. See the Tumblr privacy policy and the Google privacy policy.
- Outbound links.Links to listening services (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Tidal, Amazon Music, and similar), ticket sellers, and the merchandise partner’s storefront take you off this site. Once you arrive, you are covered by those services’ own privacy policies.
How the information is used
Booking and studio-inquiry details are used to write you back, plan a show or session, and keep a short record of past correspondence. Server logs are used to keep the site reliable and secure. Nothing collected here is sold, rented, or traded.
How long it is kept
Booking and studio emails are kept for as long as they are useful for answering, planning, and reconciling shows and sessions — usually a few years — then deleted. Server logs are kept for the short window the host retains them. If you ask for your information to be deleted, the request will be honored to the extent the law allows.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Virginia, or the European Economic Area), you may have rights to:
- ask what information about you is on file;
- ask for a copy of it;
- ask for corrections;
- ask for it to be deleted;
- opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information — though, again, none happens here.
To make any of these requests, write to theamericanfork@gmail.com with the word Privacy in the subject line. Identity will be verified using the email you write from before information is shared or deleted.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and information is not knowingly collected from them. If you believe a child has sent information through the booking form, please write and it will be deleted.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Booking inquiries travel through Resend and ordinary email, both of which use industry-standard transport encryption. No method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure, but reasonable care is taken to protect what is received.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date at the top. Material changes will be flagged in plain language.
